National Health Promoting Schools Initiative
The Australian Health Promoting Schools Association conducted the National Health Promoting Schools Initiative (NHPSI) in 1997
Key outcomes of the six month project were
- awareness raising of health promoting schools framework;
- capacity building within states/territories and nationally;
- building political support and policy development;
- creating sustainability through a national strategic plan.
Key areas of activity within the NHPSI were
- Four national research projects covering
- current school based health promotion practice;
- a review of existing HPS policy and planning material;
- current links between schools and health services;
- current links in school health research.
- State and territory consultation.
- Development of a national strategy and action plan.
